I was first exposed to Carriage Driving in the sport of Combine Driving Eventing after falling into a job with Lisa Stroud in 2003 as a show groom for her team of Connemara ponies. It wasn’t until 2007 that I was hooked - pun intended – with my first homebred horse. By 2010 I was competing my home-trained American Warmblood, Victoria’s Secret, in Combined Driving at the Intermediate Level. My #1 trainer and mentor is the late Susie Buchanan, and in using what she taught me I have started and trained a handful of driving horses. In my instruction I teach safety & correctness, all while having fun!
The horse I will be driving is Bar Nothing Cisco, but we call him Zenny. He is a 16 year old Morgan gelding. After making eye contact with him at The New Holland Livestock Sale last June I brought him home. His previous career was as an Amish buggy horse, but now he enjoys a life as a pleasure and competition horse and he couldn’t be happier!
